A 1967 Ford Galaxie Restomod with 428ci, Air Ride & Custom Build

It took years for Steve Allen of Easley, South Carolina, to realize the dream of owning the perfect 1967 Ford Galaxyie, a dream he sees every day after moving to town.

Then one day it disappeared and was sold to the owner’s cousin. As fate would have it, years later he found the same car for sale, bought it on the spot and drove it to his shop to begin its transformation into the striking Resto Mod.

After the major components were separated, the frame and front suspension were disassembled, blown and powder coated by Vanguard Industries of Anderson. The steel body was machined to virtual perfection and finished in Midnight Blue Metallic with white stripes by Street Metal Fabrications in Greenville.

Paul Chrome handled all the revamping, and a set of 2008 Harley-Davidson Sportster quad headlights added even more visual flair. Ride Tech airbags and Baer disc brakes were fitted on all four corners with BF Goodrich G-Force tires on Torque Thrust “big and small” wheels.

Ford’s big car runs on the 1967 Thunderbird 428 CI FE big-block V-8 engine. Armed with Federal Mogul pistons, Comp Cams kit, MSD ignition and Devil’s carburetor at the Edelbrock intake, it exhales through Sanderson heads and a dual Magnaflow exhaust and is cooled by a Griffin aluminum radiator.

The 428’s output is routed through a B&M-shifted C6 automatic transmission to the rear of a 9-inch heavy-duty Ford with 3.50:1 gearing and 31 axles. First-class accommodations with custom dash with Auto Meter gauges, Billet Specialty steering wheel on Ididit tilt shaft and gorgeous Dove Gray leather and carpet were created by custom interior therapist Paul Atkins. Featured in 1967 on the Hot Rod Network, this galaxie is a true labor of love.
