The 2023 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat was revived on the back of strong demand for the car.
The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat debuted for 2021 but made the strange decision to only produce it for one year. It’s now back and debuted at the three-day Dodge Speed Week event.
Much like the original, the Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat 2023 is powered by the lovable 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 engine with 710 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque. This engine features a forged steel crankshaft, forged alloy pistons and forged connecting rods, and is mated to an eight-speed TorqueFlite 8HP95 automatic transmission with seven available drive modes.
In a straight line, the Durango SRT Hellcat can sprint to 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds and break into the quarter mile in 11.5 seconds. It tops out at 180 mph.
As with the 2021 model, the Durango SRT Hellcat 2023 is instantly distinguished from the lower variants thanks to a suite of visual and aerodynamic tweaks. Among the more obvious modifications are a revised front end with a chin splitter, cool-air intake snorkel, and a rear spoiler that produces 140 pounds of downforce at the SUV’s full speed.
Various other upgrades have been made. This includes mounting Brembo brakes with six-piston front calipers and four-piston rear calipers, mounted on the 15.75-inch front and 13.8-inch rear vented rotors. The Dodge Durango Extreme is also equipped with Launch Control and Launch Assist Software, which uses wheel speed sensors to monitor wheel jump at launch and adjust engine torque to increase traction.
Customers will be able to order the Durango SRT Hellcat 2023 in one of the available Plus and Premium packages. The first one adds Laguna performance leather seats, a trailer tow package, a power sunroof, and many more adaptive and advanced safety features. The Premium package adds to the Plus and includes red seat belts, a leather-wrapped instrument panel, carbon fiber interior trim and a 19-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
“The Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat has generated a tremendous amount of excitement and demand since its introduction in 2020 – we even extended its initial production period – so it seemed fitting to bring back the most powerful SUV ever as part of our historic model 2023 – said Dodge Brand CEO Tim Kuniskis. Muscle enthusiasts also have families, and the 2023 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat can get those families where they want to go and has the ability to tow 8,700 pounds.
Orders for the 2023 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat will open in September 2022, with first dealer deliveries to begin in early 2023.
