The Dodge Challenger Demon is one of the most ridiculous performance cars ever, but it could be made even crazier if this supercharged engine was ported from front to rear.
Creating a Challenger with a rear-wheel drive can sound crazy. This is because it is. However, a company called Hurst Performance actually made a handful of rear-wheel drive Plymouth Barracudas in the ’60s and ’70s. Not only did these show-stopping tow cars have huge 7.0-liter Hemi V8s mounted atop their rear axles, but those engines were also positioned under glass windows, showing them off to the world.
In an effort to see what a modern interpretation of these special Barracudas, known as “Hemi Under Glass” models, might look like, Abimelec Design has created the following offerings.
The designer started with Challenger Demon and overhauled the rear to incorporate a magnifying window. Beneath this glass panel is the supercharged 6.2L V8 engine which is usually found under the muscle car’s long bonnet. As you can see, the final element looks pretty unruly.
Just think about this for a second: Dodge with a rear-wheel drive 840 horsepower. Driving a vehicle like this could be one of the craziest car experiences anyone can have.
It’s a shame that she’s not likely to see daylight at all, so we’ll never know if she can pull a wheelie this big.
