This is ‘UNKL’… A 700HP 8.5L V8 ’69 Ford Mustang Mach 1 by Ringbrothers

Ringbrothers, the world-renowned custom car manufacturer and manufacturer of high-quality billet parts, has unveiled its newest Ford Mustang, the Mach 1 Mach 1969 aka “UNKL” at the Flowmaster (Holly) booth at the 2019 SEMA Show. “UNKL” It is the first Mach 1 to leave the Spring Green, Wisconsin store after a string of memorable Mustang designs. The enlarged body and unique race-inspired theme make the most of road and racing technology in one car.

The “UNKL” is powered by a Jon Kaase Boss 520 cubic inch engine that produces 700 horsepower. Bowler’s reworked Tremec six-speed transmission supports the high-powered engine, while a QA1 carbon-fiber crankshaft transmits power to the rear wheels. The Mach 1’s roar comes from the Flowmaster stainless steel exhaust. Prestone coolant maintains an even operating temperature, while Motul engine oil and gear oil keep the job running smoothly. A custom BASF paint called Big Boss Blue is applied to a smooth body, formed using 3M products.

Ringbrothers extended the Mach 1’s body by an inch on each side, giving it a slightly more aggressive stance than stock without compromising the classic look. The car’s body is a mixture of carbon fiber and steel plates that Ringbrothers has reshaped. Other custom details include billet taillights, reshaped fenders, rim inserts and engine bay that are custom manufactured at the Ringbrothers facility.

The building’s name comes from a Ringbrothers owner who enjoyed a close relationship with his uncle. The builder credits his uncle’s influence on his passion for cars. The racing-inspired color continues with this theme and will also serve a practical purpose when using the car on the track.

“UNKL” uses Detroit Speed Engineering’s Aluma-Frame front suspension with die-cast aluminum cradles, custom-tuned steering rack, tubular suspension arms and custom-adjustable RideTech coils. The rear is equipped with QUADRALink suspension from Detroit Speed and RideTech shocks. Front and rear sway bars are also from Detroit Speed. The stopping power is provided by Baer with massive 6S Extreme tweezers. The “UNKL” rides on a custom set of HRE wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S sticky tires 295/35R-19 at the front and 345/30R-20 at the rear.

The custom UNKL interior by Upholstery Unlimited feels as racing-inspired as the exterior with supportive Recaro seats, Billet Ringbrothers components, Ididit steering column and gauges by Classic Instruments and a cabin kept at a comfortable temperature thanks to a Vintage Air Gen IV Magnum evaporator kit.
